Position
Software Test Engineer is a position that involves developing functional test strategies, plans, and tests, including automation suites, for platform-independent current and next-generation packet software across CIENA’s networking products. The position also requires conducting research, executing and automating test plans, designing test beds, collaborating with engineers, and managing feature and schedule churns.
Qualification
The candidate should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. The candidate should also have over a year of testing experience.
Skills
The candidate should have proficiency in Python/Tcl/Expect, fluency and practical experience in data communication systems, networking, and Ethernet switches, hands-on experience with L2/L3 topologies, robust testing expertise in Layer-2/Layer-3 and OAM protocols, familiarity with traffic generators such as Ixia and Spirent, and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Preferred skills include proficient understanding of network design and deployment scenarios in carrier/metro Ethernet space and exposure to Netconf, GNMI, and telemetry.
